Mass Effect 2 is something like a broken game?

I thought for Mass Effect 2, but after seeing a lot more coverage, and some gameplay videos on youtube, it looks like a fracture. I'm broken when I got my free Xbox 360 and I hated that game. Are they similar, or is it just that they are both 3rd person?
